Rant about the term "WORLDLY"!!!!
by wordlywife inmy husband was talking at the table with his young adult daughter last night.
for those of you that don't know, he is a long time witness, and his children are of course witnesses also.
we were married when he was df'd, and i knew all about him being a witness and wanting to return.

Worldly Wife, tell him that you aren't worldly, you are cosmopolitan thank you very much. What a stupid label, I've got a few labels for the dubs and I don't think they'd like them very much.

Timing or Karma?
by hillbilly ini guess some things are meant to be.
"it's sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along"....why are we always outta sync with what our heart really wants.
why is it so hard to do the right thing sometimes?.

Former JW- new here....
by disillusioned youth inhi guys and gals....... .
i would just like to extend greetings to all those poor souls who had to endure the torturous childhood of growing up in a strict jw lifestyle as i had.
i didn't know that there were such forums on the net, and i was made aware of this by my sister who is also a member here, i believe.. i find this kind of funny really.

Is Confession Actually A Bad Thing To Do?
by Englishman inwhen i make mistakes ( i do, i do!
) or do something really bad, the last thing i think about is confessing to it.. i apologise where appropriate, try to learn from the experience and generally file away the event so's to maybe profit by the experience.
sometimes i even feel remorse!.

I thought confession was one of those silly unscriptural things the Catholics did.

Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?
by jeanniebeanz inlately, it seems to be that people are on edge and are forgetting common courtesy in their posts.
people have told me that they were thinking of un-subscribing or at least taking a long break from the board due to people who take their negative opinion of the subject or opinion being discussed, and turn it into a personal attack.. what is happening here?
any idea why this sudden spike in overbearing rude people posting here?

Jeannie, just remember Non Illegitimi Carborundum* and you will be just fine. You are a total sweetie and one of my favorite people here.

What Is The "Bottom Line" Regarding The "Truth"/ Organization???
by minimus inis it that it's all a joke, a smokescreen?
is it all about 'just do for us and expect nothing in return'?
is it that they really don't care about anything but their property and their real estate?

You know, I just reread the actual question, bottom line is "they suck."

I think its a combination of wanting to perpetuate itself, once set in motion tends to continue in motion and the old the more people you can get to believe the way you do, the more it affirms your belief.

How do you women feel about acting stupid to please men and the borg?
by Dragonlady76 inthe quote below was part of a talk in the 90's.
i heard this as a child and thought to myself, how can any woman accept such a draconian veiw?
i was not sure if i had understood correctly so, i brought it up to my bible study conductor maggie, i was appalled that she agreed with this veiw, we debated it back and forth, until i got the upper hand, then she told me that i was to "rebellious and strong willed", and that i "should never get married", that i way i would not have to submit to male "headshit" "headship".

And when I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Merry comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let the Dragon be.
